Test Code LAB9911 LEUKEMIA/LYMPHOMA PANEL BY FLOW CYTOMETRY
Specimen Information
Container | Specimen | Temp | Collect Vol | Submit Vol | Min Vol | Stability |
Sodium Hep (green top) | Bone Marrow or Blood | Ambient | 2 mL | 2 mL | 1 mL | 72 hrs |
EDTA (Lav top) | Bone Marrow, Blood, or Fluid | Ambient | 2 mL | 2 mL | 1 mL | 48 hrs |
RPMI | Fluid, LN*, Tissue*, FNA, BX | Ambient | N/A | N/A | N/A | 72 hrs |
Sterile Container | CSF | Ambient | 2 mL | 2 mL | 1 mL | 48 hrs |
Lithium Heparin is NOT an acceptable container type. ACD has not been validated and is also NOT acceptable.
*Lymph nodes and tissue samples should be cut into small fragments and placed in RPMI to preserve viability.
Low cellularity samples (ex. CSF) require more sample volume.
All samples should be kept at ambient temperature after collection and during transport. Live cells are required for testing, therefore, formalin or other fixatives are NOT acceptable.
Every attempt will be made to accommodate irreplaceable specimens and viability is determined for all but the mosty scant specimens.
