Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood
Container/Tube: Tiger top, serum gel
Acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or Green (Heparin) Top
Specimen Volume: Full tube, submit 0.5 mL serum
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.35 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Send specimen in original tube.
2. If there is a delay in transport of >1 hour, centrifuge tube.
3. Specimens may be refrigerated (2°-8°C) and tested within 48 hours.
4. Specimens held for longer times should be frozen (below -10°C) and tested within 3 months.
