Specimen Requirements
Patient Preparation:
A specimen should not be collected from a patient with the following conditions that may interfere with the test results:
Menstrual Bleeding
Constipation bleeding
Bleeding hemorrhoids
Urinary bleeding.
Collection Instructions:
A small amount of fecal specimen is required. Do not allow fecal specimen to contact toilet water until after the sample has been collected. Do not urinate on fecal specimen.
Specimens collected in a clean container should be handled as follows:
- Unscrew the cap of the Fecal Collection Tube and remove Applicator Stick.
- Randomly insert the Applicator Stick into the fecal sample from three to six times. Do not clump, scoop, or fill the tube.
- Return the Applicator Stick into the Fecal Collection Tube and tighten the cap thoroughly.
- Shake the tube to mix the sample with the Extraction Buffer.
- Label container with patient name, DOB, date and time of collection.
